This 2-day course includes hearing how Virginia Mason applied the daily management techniques to enable leaders to manage their operations in a lean environment.
Hands on activities help participants design their own tools to apply at their organization. Participants learn to how to empower staff to be directly involved in generating and testing new ideas, implementing process improvements to achieve organizational goals, and improving quality and safety of patient care.
This workshop will give you an understanding of:
- how to create visual displays to track real-time operations.
- how to organize and convene daily staff huddles.
- how to develop leader standard work to manage daily operations.
- how to perform root-cause analyses and develop kaizen (improvement) action plans with your teams.
- how to focus your improvement work on organizational goals and connect the dots for your staff.
- how to hold each other accountable to sustain improvements.
After this experience, you will be able to:
- Apply the sensei’s recommendations and provocations to move to the next milestone of the transformation journey
- Obtain a better understanding of a lean leader’s roles and responsibilities at different levels of the organization
- Translate the sensei learning through other areas in the organization
Who should attend:
Business and health care leaders at any level would benefit to attend this course to help advance their lean knowledge and sustain improvements. Teams of leaders can work together to design leader standard work to help with leader cross coverage, time away and turnover. Executives can learn the behaviors to hold others accountable in a lean environment. The can learn to be a model and help remove barriers for staff when rounding.
